Our 5.2 beta release is truely vaporware. It runs on the cloud. (Clearly I am running out of cleaver leads for our cloud release!)
Today we released the 5.2 beta of WaveMaker. To run it you don’t need to download a thing. Just type cloud.wavemaker.com in your favorite browser (of course, if you want to debug I expect your favorite browser if FireFox with the FireBug add-on). If you used the previous beta use the same login. If you are new to the cloud, simply register to create an account. It’s free!
You shoud also notice the new deployment option: Deploy to EC2. Once you’ve built an application you can use WaveMaker to deploy it for you to Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud. With WaveMaker 5.2 it’s easy to build and deploy your application.
Although it’s still beta this is a fully functional version of WaveMaker. Please try it out and let us know what you think. I want to thank the WaveMaker community for the valuable feedback on our previous cloud beta. In particular I want to thank Niek (aka Malamut) for his many comments. This beta is much better as a result of the input provided by the WaveMaker community.
In case you are wondering, the cloud version of WaveMaker is running on Amazon EC2. We have a total of 4 machines at the moment. Come to think of it, the Amazon deploy architecture is a good topic for a separate blog post.
Despite the many advancements to the cloud version, I expect many of you will continue to prefer the traditional, desktop version. Not to worry, the 5.2 beta for our desktop users will be out very soon. I’ll post again as soon as the desktop version is available.
